Adding and Replacing Outlets

Sometimes, the current layout of your home’s electrical outlets are not enough to properly provide electricity for all of today’s modern appliances and gadgets.  Home theater systems, multiple computers and laptop adaptors, bigger and larger appliances need more and more electricity.  If you have decided that parts of your home need another outlet or two, give the contractors of Larsen-Hoffman a call.

Indoor outlets in older homes often do not have space for a third grounding prong.  This can sometimes be a problem because the plugs of modern appliances such as computers, televisions, and other electrical devices come with a grounding prong.  While adaptors are readily available at any home improvement store, older outlets are usually still ungrounded and in the long-run should probably be replaced to prevent burnout or fire risk.

Adding electrical outlets is a relatively unobtrusive, albeit potentially complicated home improvement project.  Properly placing the new outlet often requires getting under a home to connect the outlet to the breaker box.  This involves drilling multiple holes through the baseboards and floor of the home and connecting and pulling wiring from the stud bay.  In addition, the wiring must be connected to the house’s main electrical panel.

Because there are many steps involving both the interior and exterior of your home, hiring an experienced contractor who values honesty, flexibility, and cleanliness should be paramount to your project.  Give Larsen-Hoffman a call at (650) 424-0456 and let them be that contractor
